Back in the day, when I was working with youth, I would read the myriad teen Christian magazines that would come my way, and pay special interest to the music reviews. I was always looking for some good music to turn the kids on to...
One day, however, the thought hit me: "These reviewers never give a negative review!?! How could that be???"
I think that particular light bulb came on when reading yet another glowing review of this guy:

Anyway...
Here's a site that actually reviews Christian music. So jarring!
HT: Tall Skinny...
I can relate to this, Bob. Back several years ago I used to write a column that offered brief reviews of new CCM albums (that was back when I listened to a lot more CCM than I do today).
Anytime I'd say something negative about an album, I'd usually get complaints from some readers -- as if by saying that an album was bad, I was somehow saying that the individual who recorded the album was a worthless piece of garbage with no ministry or no value whatsoever.
I typically responded to those emails by saying that just as it's possible for good people to send dumb emails, it's also possible for good people to produce bad music.
All that to say, it's nice to see some CCM reviews that are negative.

As much as I agree with you that we need critical and honest reviews of Christian music. (thanks for the link btw) I just can't help but stand up for Carman:
That guy was hilarious. Just looking at the image you posted made me laugh. His song-speak style of music is without comparison. R.I.OT. is still the best music video out there. (read: sarcastic tone)

I've always viewed Carman as the christian Henry Rollins. He just looks like a guy who could 'kick out the jams' for jesus. so, wrong.. so very wrong...
