Paul Young, author of The Shack, is one of the most down to earth, nicest... most "Jesusy" guys I've had the pleasure of meeting. We did an OPB radio show together awhile back, and I've run into him here and there- always a treat.
I reviewed The Shack here. Basic gist, if you don't want to read the review (it's long) is that The Shack is a good book, will do good things in you, but has a couple of theological (and it IS a theological book, no matter what you think- Young himself says as much) issues I think people should be aware of and take with a grain of salt. We're all wrong in our theology somewhere (even you A29 guys!), all have a certain percentage of crazy monkey talk on our doctrinal statements, Young just wrote a multimillion seller and included some of his.
Anyway, I wish American TV was more like this. Here's Young on a Canadian show, in a fifteen minute interview that actually allows for some depth. I love the end when Paul begins to let the host know just what God thinks of him. Awesome.
