Okay, I may have to apologize here.

I logged in on Church Reviews and reviewed my friends church, Ethnos...

Highly Recommended 'em!!!

So maybe I'm dead wrong regarding my suspicion that perhaps, maybe, quite possibly only A29 churches will get the highly coveted "Highly Recommended"...

I hate it when that happens.

I'll go ahead and refrain from reviewing evergreen, though... :)

Church Reviews.org pt 2 Okay... a couple of things. 1. Again, I think the concept of this site is solid. Too much of church "publicity" is self-serving in the EXTREME. ("Come to our warm, friendly, laid-back service" which is anything but when you actually get there.) Churches, by and large, are more aspirational in their websites/publicity/vision statements, etc... as opposed to being simply descriptional. In other words, when you check their website, you see what they wish to be (and may to a greater or lesser extent actually be/become), but rarely will you see them make any nod at all to the process of becoming, much less what they are trying to move away from ("We recognize that we are a hide-bound and grouchy church. But we're trying hard to change. Just last week, we asked Elder Jones to either start smiling and to actually sing with the rest of us or get out. We're a church in a painful, but hopeful transition!") So I think there's a need for some objective information to be presented about churches. I think it can be done in a way that minimizes the consumer nature of things. For instance, Church Reviews.org is not focusing on Kid's Programs!!!...

wow... Okay. It's not often you come across a way of doing and being church that you have never seen before. I don't know if this is new, but it's new to me, and I think... pretty dang cool. I got an email from a guy named Glen Fitzjerrell from Chicago. He had come across one of my articles on church planting and wanted to send me a note of encouragement. I checked out his blog and...
