prediction!

I'm neither a prophet nor the blahbiddity, blah, blah...

But...

Should this latest hurricane hit mainly Texas,
And should the death toll be lower due to increased presence of military, FEMA, Red Cross, Tom, Dick, and even Harry in the area,
And should evacuation go smoothly due to the freshness of the recent tragedy in the people's minds leading to vastly fewer people "riding it out",
And should the increased presence of military and the lessons learned just a couple of weeks ago keep looting of evacuated areas to a minimum...

Someone, somewhere, will still say...

"Well, it obviously went better there because GW Bush is from Texas!"

visit from Andrew... So... Andrew Jones is coming to town! Feels very much like an apostolic visit :) The Tall, Skinny Kiwi even made mention of bob in his comments: "bob hyatt has been talking about a name change for the emerging church. i wonder if we could do something around that theme?" To that I say yes! We all need to put on our thinking caps and think hard of a new name because if we don't, these people are going to ruin things for everyone... ht: kyle technorati tag: emer... uh... organic church!

Church Reviews.org pt 2 Okay... a couple of things. 1. Again, I think the concept of this site is solid. Too much of church "publicity" is self-serving in the EXTREME. ("Come to our warm, friendly, laid-back service" which is anything but when you actually get there.) Churches, by and large, are more aspirational in their websites/publicity/vision statements, etc... as opposed to being simply descriptional. In other words, when you check their website, you see what they wish to be (and may to a greater or lesser extent actually be/become), but rarely will you see them make any nod at all to the process of becoming, much less what they are trying to move away from ("We recognize that we are a hide-bound and grouchy church. But we're trying hard to change. Just last week, we asked Elder Jones to either start smiling and to actually sing with the rest of us or get out. We're a church in a painful, but hopeful transition!") So I think there's a need for some objective information to be presented about churches. I think it can be done in a way that minimizes the consumer nature of things. For instance, Church Reviews.org is not focusing on Kid's Programs!!!...
