So, many of you have read, or perhaps heard of Michael Frost's The Shaping of Things to Come, an excellent primer on Missional church... or perhaps even the definitive work up until now on the subject?
At any rate, here are a couple of talks on the subject by Michael, perhaps the leading advocate in the world for Missional church. If you want to listen to some good thinking on what church could and should be, this is it.
As a side note, in message 2, Frost recounts a conversation he and I had and gets the details of evergreen totally wrong. Ends up using us as a negative example!
Don't worry- I emailed him, set the record straight and told him to stop talking smack! :)
definitive? Come on...
thanks for the audio though-- I'm eager to hear these...

I accidently added this comment to your more recent blog, sorry. This is where my comment belongs: I heard the section I believe you were speaking about. I didn't really see his comment as being negative toward the Evergreen church. I think he was just saying that Evergreen didn't seem to me emerging from the natural cultural scene, this idea he's promoting in the sermon. Evergreen isn't 'emerging naturally' in his terms due to the fact that the bar is closed and it is still saying, 'come here for church'. In that sense Evergreen is just like every other church. Although I would say Evergreen has its own feel to it and is very unique as far as churches go, I wouldn't set it apart from other churches in the specific characteristic the speaker is talking about. But hey, I have only been to Evergreen 2 or 3 times, so please feel free to persuade me otherwise.

I tried to listen to your smacks, but not a single sound came through...it's probably my firewall...otherwise, I am sure it was really terrific!

okay! I got a message from my computer after I left that comment that it can patch quicktime, enough to let me hear one of the messages, so I listened to one, ( I have no idea which one, because I had clicked on them all before, and what he had to say was fascinating, and I totally agree with everything he said, so, thanks Bob!
