So... It wasn't exactly how I had envisioned making the NY Times, but I guess it's better than, say, a perp walk. :)
Welcome NYT readers... Enjoy the blog!
UPDATE: If you have a widget you want to let people know about, feel free to post a link in the comments to this post! Today's the day- more than 1200 visitors, just before 8am! :)
Bob, I came expecting to see a bunch of widgets. I found a bunch of widgets. Some I think I have never seen before. This is cool. I review these things on my blog but I am still under the mainstream radar for some reason.
Have a wonderful day

I found your site via this article in the NYTimes. Keep up the great work.

Congratulations! I hurried over here soon as I opened up my morning edition of NYT, and saw you mentioned in the lead article, and was going to tell you about it, but I see you already found out and blogged it. Very cool! :)

Hey Bob,
I thought I'd let you know about a site you might find useful that lets you create widgets for any rss feed you want and include them on your website (as well as build a personal rss homepage).
In the interests of full disclosure I am involved with the development of this site, but I really thought this might be something useful for you.

Take it easy,

Bob - Glad to see your leveraging widgets! Have you seen yourminis.com? We refer to widgets as minis (mini applications) and have developed a widget platform that you can customize to your liking and then use a start page. In addition, each of our minis can be published out to blogs, social networks, etc. Here's our latest blog post: http://blog.yourminis.com/2007/01/a_couple_of_pub.html
Take a look when you get a chance - we'd love to see some of our minis on this blog soon!

Bob-
I thought I would introduce you to a really cool widget from Firstgiving.com
Firstgiving is a website that helps you create a free personalized fundraising page for any non-profit registered with GuideStar, a national registry of nearly 2MM non-profits. Once you create your page you can email it out (firstgiving provides a tool to import email addresses) or link it to your blog through a widget where supporters can see your process and be directed to the page where they can donate.
The attribute that makes Firstgiving shine is the fact that they transfer any funds raised directly to the non-profit, so no one has to worry about the hassle of worrying about where the money is going or registering for a paypal account. They also have a great support team that will help you with any problems you encounter via email.

Congrats Bob! I just read the article, and at first I was expecting 8,000 widgets all over your blog, but it's very well done and tasteful!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Anita =)
