"We talk a lot about the mystery of God, but is God really the greatest mystery we grapple with? Hasn't He revealed to us everything we need to know about Him?Hasn't He already told us His plan for humanity, His desire to be in relationship with us, and how He restored us to Himself through the Cross? Granted, many things about God will remain a mystery, but He will not keep from us the things that are critical to our lives. He has revealed all we need to know about His grace and glory and purpose.
God's nature is not the greatest mystery we face. The greatest mystery we face is our own nature- our struggle with our humanity, our inconsistencies and our insecurities. The most perplexing mystery is not understanding who God is, but why we do the things we do."
-Tim King and Frank Martin, Furious Pursuit: Why God Will Never Let You Go
interesting take.
I think I would say that God's ways are indeed often mysterious. Primarily because of our own humanity and inability to fully grasp Him.

I am only kind of kidding when I say this but that sounds like Calvinist propaganda. We've got God nailed, it's you that's the problem.

hehe...I was actually thinking something similar and typed it but decided against posting it since in the quote he says "Granted, many things about God will remain a mystery"
I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say that he understands that certain behaviors and characteristics of God, BY DESIGN, will remain a mystery and that's part of his GLORY.
