it's a great post man...awesome...and in many ways, I can't help but wonder together with Locke if major changes are actually easier than small ones...it certainly can seem that way at least.

Okay- your 15 minutes is up, Mr Hyatt... Had a fantastic time meeting Paul Young and talking about the Shack and relationship vs religion today. A lot of fun... Some highlights- Got shown into the "green room"- basically a conference room where they park folks waiting to go on the air. It was just me and Paul Young, hanging out and talking for probably 20 minutes. He's an amazingly humble guy. This whole thing has taken him so much by surprise- he described himself as an "accidental author." This is a book he wrote for his kids and copied off (15 copies!) at Kinkos and thought that would be the end of it. Some that read it urged him not to allow it to be. 2.5 million copies later, 9 weeks at #1 on the NY Times bestseller list, Oprah is reading it right now and it's what they call in the publishing world "a phenomenon." And still- the guy is very, very humble- pointing everything to Jesus. Speaking of which, I mentioned to him that I had heard there was a movie in the works- and my fear that as Jesus-centric as this book is (it ends with the statement that someday, every knee will bow and...

The Shack- reviewed. At length. So yes, I've finally read The Shack. Forgive me if for many of you the book is old news. I'm one of those guys who tends to shy away from "phenomenon" books- I think we're all a little burned out on the Left Behinds and Purpose Driven Lifes... In addition, I knew that at the heart of the book is a tragedy that befalls a young girl, and truth is, I have a hard time handling anything like that since I became the dad of a little girl. But when Oregon Public Broadcasting called me last week and wanted to know if I'd be on their Friday show with Shack author William "Paul" Young to talk the "Religion to Relationship" transition and about the Shack specifically, I figured I better read the book. And after reading it, I can honestly say "I'm surprised." By a number of things... The first thing that surprised me is how much I enjoyed the book. Yes, the writing is a bit clunky at times- Young is candid in calling himself an "accidental" author.
