The picture or the model?

Bruce Elliott, whose wife owns the Old Town Ale House, painted this nude portrait of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. He said his daughter, who does a good impression of the Alaska governor, served as model. (Kuni Takahashi, Chicago Tribune / September 29, 2008)
Ohhhhh dear. Wow.

The choice of model is infinitely more creepy than the picture itself, which is not particularly noteworthy.

Why on God's green earth would you post this?

Actually, it's not the painting or the model that's creepiest.. it's just that photo of that guy. Scarytown.
And to answer Aaron's question- pure entertainment value!

I had the very same thought when I read the news piece yesterday.
It actually went something like this:
Clicked on the link. Painting not that great (what would Bob Ross do?). Glance through article. Hit "Back" button. Wait - did my eyes just catch the words 'model' and 'daughter' in close proximity? Hit "Forward" button. Yes, yes they did. Weird.
Ew.

The whole things is weird. First...the idea of wanting to paint Palin nude is odd. But let's just say that it is done for the sake of art and to make a political point. Plus, it's not like we haven't seen stuff like this before. But then...to have your daughter be the nude model for the painting...some of you have already summed it up...creepy. Not to mention the photo. If part of the point was to draw some attention in order to create a platform, I'm sure that mission was accomplished.

Yikes...
I was aware of the "portrait" but wasn't aware of this other tidbit.

Extra creepy because if you look at the painting in the background there isn't enough detail to warrant a model at all. Seriously it consists of the outline of a woman and colored in.
Asking for a nude model for a detail-light painting is creepy on its own. The fact that it was his own daughter is Creepy x4.
I dislike Obama because of the policies he has a history of supporting (though he never mouths support for many of them), but many of the people supporting him genuinely creep me out.
