Dumb candidate supporter of the year

What better way to show you love a candidate, than to name your baby after him... and her... without telling your wife. Oh.

OH, oh, nooooo...I'm pretty sure that naming-your-baby-something-insane-without-telling-your-wife is definite biblical grounds for divorce!!

I guess it may have taken a bit longer for them to come out of the woodwork, but apparently there are some conservatives as whacked out over candidate-worship as the liberals.

Driscoll on Stay at Home Dads I'll try to be careful here... but there really isn't a way to balance this out. I think I need to just come right out and say: The exegesis displayed here is just plain awful. Someone who claims to value the text as highly as Driscoll shouldn't have such a hard time getting that 1 Tim 5:8 has little to do with the role of men vis a vis women and everything to do with believers in general taking care of relatives in need. How do I know? Read the context. Read the Greek- the word "man" or "male" is nowhere found. It's "If anyone..." To wrench a verse out of context so blatantly, and to use it to proof-text a concept like stay at home dads is more than silly- it's poor handling of Scripture, plain and simple. I'm sad to see that advocating Mark/Mars Hill's take particular take on the roles of men and women supersedes the responsibility to handle Scripture responsibly. And to threaten church discipline for stay-at-home dads?!?! Are you kidding?? (I'm sure Brian and/or Starla might want to weigh in here... or maybe not.) Yes- If I saw a guy who refused to provide for...

Tide Of Intolerance: increasing numbers of Christians killed in India From Newsweek: Since August of this year, a spate of violence has swept across significant portions of the eastern Indian state of Orissa. More than 30 people have been killed, thousands of homes torched and hundreds displaced. The principal victims have been the small, beleaguered Christian communities. Sadly, they are no strangers to such tragedies. In 1999, Hindu zealots murdered an Australian missionary, Graham Staines, and his two sons. The ostensible trigger for the renewed attacks on the Christian communities appears to be the unresolved murder of a local Hindu preacher, Swami Laksshmanananda Saraawati, in August. The local police have blamed a neophyte Maoist terrorist organization, the Naxalites, for his murder. But the Bajrang Dal, a radical Hindu organization, with ties to the hypernationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), assert that the preacher was killed because of his staunch opposition to evangelical Christian missionary activity in the state. The BJP has sought to pin blame on the Christian community. Despite expressions of outrage in India's vigilant national press and statements of concern on the part of the country's vibrant civil society about the plight of the Christians, the state government has proven to be appallingly complacent—it has failed to act quickly...
