You should probably be listening to the Welcome Wagon...
... as though that Tambourine is a symbol of all my existential angst and regret.
Worship pastor/recording artist and good friend Paul Ramey has had his album picked up for national distribution by Word/Warner Entertainment! It's a fantastic album and is set to be released May 5th.

Amazon is quickly moving past the iTunes store as my top music buying destination- seriously.
Awesome- Amazon reduced the price of the Welcome Wagon's debut Sufjan-produced and infused album...
David Ford- "Go to Hell". One take, one shot... looping, no pre-recording.
Friend of Evergreen and friend of Bob, Paul Ramey is getting set to release his first studio album, Alright.
Check out his MySpace, make sure to hear "Wonderful Savior"... and watch for the album!
From the album description: "Alright is a collection of songs emerging from a life that is realizing that God truly does have a plan in the midst of the pain we experience as humans. But while I can type that here and now, it’s another thing to live it every day. I think that’s something I’ll be learning until the end of my life here on this earth. For whatever reason my life has been marked by a significant amount of pain, and I’ve responded in both healthy and unhealthy ways at times. But when I look around at the Church in America I can’t help but see a tendency we have to try to shove it under the carpet and force a "shiny happy people" approach to life. But if there’s one constant in life, it is that we as people will suffer. Look around you...it’s happening everywhere. I’ve heard in many churches the encouragement to "leave your ’stuff’ at the door" so that you can be focused on worshiping God. I don’t know about you, but I can’t do that, and I don’t think God wants us to do that. He wants us to be honest with where we are. He sees and knows anyway, why would he want us to pretend to be somewhere we aren’t. He wants honesty. He wants authenticity. He wants us to see our "stuff" through the lens of HIM."
So... How good is this? Amazing... Why didn't anyone tell me about these guys???
I just can't stop listening to this song...
Mercy speaks by Jesus’ blood
Hear and sing, ye sons of God
Justice satisfied indeed
Christ has full atonement madeJesus’ blood speaks loud and sweet
Here all Deity can meet
and, without a jarring voice
Welcome Zion to rejoice(chorus)
“All her debts were cast on Me,
and she must and shall go free”Peace of conscience, peace with God
We obtain through Jesus’ blood
Jesus’ blood speaks solid rest
We believe, and we are blestShould the law against her roar
Jesus’ blood still speaks with power
“All her debts were cast on Me,
and she must and shall go free”
The more I hear of Snow Patrol, the more I like...
This Road-
All heavy laden acquainted with sorrow
May Christ in our marrow carry us home
From alabaster come blessings of laughter
A fragrance of passion and joy from the truth
Grant the unbroken tears ever flowing
From hearts of contrition only for You
May sin never hold true that love never broke through
For God's mercy holds us and we are His own
This road that we travel may it be the straight and narrow
God, give us peace and grace from You, all the day
Shelter with fire, our voices we raise still higher
God, give us peace and grace from You, all the day through
No... there simply is nothing in the world more depressing than a Morrissey video from 1989...
gonna go lay on the couch now...
and of course:
Fall, 1989... my girlfriend broke up with me and later that summer got herself in a car accident and a coma. I played this song endlessly...
But thankfully, there were things like...
Everyone thinks that the music that was playing on the radio when he or she first became aware of music is the best and it was just all downhill from there...
It just happens to be true in my case :)
Click below to see videos of some music from bob's formative years. (ironic detail... we never had cable growing up- so even though these songs are imprinted in my head, the videos themselves are pretty foreign to me. Good to finally see them)
Derek's album Mockingbird is available for FREE at Free Derek Webb.com
You really should get it...
A sample of Derek's prophetic voice...
A huge thank you to Justin Taylor for turning me onto Leeland, whose debut album I have had on repeat all night. Amazing, Coldplay and Keane-like, influenced by rather than ripping off... If you are a fan of either, you might like this...
What I love is that it's just good worship music, poetic and yet avoiding the cheezy Jesus is my girlfriend thing many fall into... Theologically deep as well... Amazing to think this music comes out of someone who's 17.
Sufjan has a new album coming out... I may or may not have heard it, and it may or may not be amazingly good.
How this guy can keep up such prodigious output with such amazing quality, I'll never understand.
These are mainly left over tracks from his last ridiculously good album. Most musicians would kill to be able to write stuff this good, and these are Sufjan's out-takes. Sheesh...
This music makes me happy... warm and cozy, deep down inside.
When the whole album comes out- get it. Get the rest of his catalog as well...
You won't regret it.
